TRIP DIARY: #2 PARIS

Miles de expectativas. Todo el mundo me decía frases como "te vas a enamorar de París", "Es mi lugar en el mundo, cuando vuelvas vas a decir lo mismo", "es hermosa", "es única", bla bla bla. Entonces, desde antes de bajar del avión ya me gustaba más que cualquier otra ciudad. Pero a medida que fueron pasando los días, cambié de parecer. Nadie discute que sea una ciudad hermosa, con una mística inexplicable... pero no fue mi preferida. Así de mal llevada soy, y así empiezo mi segundo post sobre mi viaje a París, Francia.

Tons of expectations. Everyone would be like "you're gonna love Paris", "Is my place in the world, when you get back you will be saying the same," "it's beautiful", "it's unique", blah blah blah. So then, before stepping off the plane I already liked it better than any other city. But as the days went by, I changed my mind. No one argues that it is a beautiful city with a unexplainable mystique ... but it was not my favorite. That's how cranky I am, and so I begin my second post about my trip to Paris, France.

No resultó ser mi lugar en el mundo, pero debo admitir que es París. Y París fue un perfecto escenario en millones de películas, libros, y canciones que me enamoraron. Entonces, al caminar en ella uno se siente familiarizado, se siente bien. París es el lugar donde Mr. Big le dice por primera a vez a Carrie, que ella es la única. Y huyen de Petrovsky, juntos para siempre. Es una ciudad que desprende romanticismo por donde la mires. El puente de los candados mismo te lo dice, ¿cuantas parejas habrán puesto su candado ahí? Yo por lo pronto, no lo puse. Mi novio y yo nos enteramos de dos parejas que se separaron luego de hacer eso. Y no queríamos sufrir el mismo destino. Por las dudas.
It didn't turned out to be my place in the world, but I must admit, it's Paris. And Paris was the perfect scenario in millions of movies, books, and songs that I fell in love with. So, when walking on it, it feels familiar, it feels good. Paris is where Mr. Big tells for the first time to Carrie that she's the one. And they flee from Petrovsky, together forever. It's a city where romanticism emerges not matter where you look, as the love padlocks bridge tells it itself . How many couples have put their padlock there? I for one, did not. My boyfriend and I heard about two couples who splitted after doing that. And we didn't want to take any chances.

Durante mi estadía, la única palabra que salió de mi boca fue bonjour. En ningún momento tuve la posibilidad de recurrir a mis conocimientos de francés que adquirí gracias a Carla Bruni, y su canción Quelqu'un m'a dit.  Ya que París, además de recibirme con un solcito hermoso, me dio la bienvenida con una población llena de latinos y españoles. Visité el Arco de Triunfo, el Museo de Louvre, la Catedral de Notre Dame, la Basílica de Sacre-Coeur, Le Marais, La Défense y por supuesto, subí caminando la soñada Tour Eiffel. Soñada porque es hermosa. Gigante. Y porque no importaba en donde estaba parada, yo siempre la veía. En mi próximo post, disfrutarán del cool hunter que hice en la histórica avenida Champ Elysees.
During my stay the only word that came out of my mouth was bonjour. I was not able to use the French skills I acquired thanks to Carla Bruni and her song Quelqu'un m'a dit. Since Paris, in addition to receiving me with a beautiful sun, welcomed me with a population full of Latin and Spanish people. I visited the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur, Le Marais, La Défense and of course, walked up the dreamed Eiffel Tour. Dreamed because it's beautiful. And giant. And because no matter where I stood, I could always see it.
